Whatever the next few years may bring, it is likely they will be substantially different for most of us – and not necessarily in a good way.
Increasingly we will be confronted with challenges ranging from continuing environmental destruction, pollution, overpopulation, resource depletion, species extinction, climate change, threats of global nuclear catastrophe, pandemics (e.g. COVID-19) and financial collapse, to personal tragedies such as poverty, ill health and homelessness.
This site was initially motivated by concerns about the potentially devastating effects of abrupt climate change and the likelihood of some form of global financial collapse. It has, however, evolved into a wider-ranging effort to also include useful information on such mundane topics as hemming a pair of jeans and using vinegar and baking soda for cleaning. All the content is ultimately aimed at providing resources to help you survive (and thrive) in increasingly challenging times. And, lest we feel like jumping off a cliff after reading some of the news segments, there is even an attempt at humour.
Some argue that it is more comforting to remain ignorant of any impending disaster. While that viewpoint may have some validity, this author believes that in order to be able at least temporarily mitigate unpleasant effects, we need to firstly become informed. Unfortunately, due to the vested interests of large corporations, biased mainstream media organisations and short-sighted politicians this is not always easy.
This site will very likely remain a work in progress. Hint: Those pages listed under Categories on the right of most pages already have content. Other pages listed on the top menu – but not under Categories – for the moment remain empty.
Your feedback is welcome.
